When Science Tells Lies
Science does not tell lies, but men (of course never women!) often do - either intentially or unintentionally. Scientists, like all of us, are flawed. Please remember this when reading a "science" book.
True Stories
- 90%-95% of scientists were wrong: Junk DNA.
In the year 2000 about 90%-95% of geneticists and molecular biologists thought that 98% of human DNA was junk. The Human Genome Project was nearing its initial working draft and found that only 1% to 2% of human DNA codes for proteins. There was no known function for the rest. So scientific consensus (guess) was that the other 98% was "junk". Even Francis Crick, who won a Nobel Prize for his discoveries in DNA supported the Junk DNA idea. But along came the more thorough ENCODE project in 2012. Now it is estimated that at least 75%-93% of DNA is used (transcribed into RNA). This DNA is "control software" - gene expresssion that determines when, where, and how much of a protein is made. Without it we are dead.
How much confidence can we put in scientists that teach evolution when 90-95% of them were in error about 98% of DNA? Their error was they ASSUMED that "Junk DNA" had no function. They did not measure that it had no function.
Today, the same kind of error is being made. Most scientists ASSUME that massive DNA complexity can be created by mutations. But we KNOW how DNA codes for proteins and we can MEASURABLY calculate probabilities. Small changes are possible. Large changes, such as a new protein and its necessary control software, are MATHEMATICALLY ridiculous, even in trillions of years. Also, we measurably know that mutations are building up in man's DNA with each generation.
- A Textbook lie
When I was an undergrad my biology text used the human appendix as a proof of evolution. It said the appendix has no function, therefore it is a leftover from evolution. But now we know that the appendix plays an important role in the immune systems of young infants. My "science" textbook told a lie. What happened here? Someone wanted to give "evidence" for an idea they wanted to promote. So he IMAGINED something and presented it as conclusive truth. A lot of that goes on in evolution texts today.
- One Lying Professor
A friend of mine studied for 5 years to earn her PhD in a scientific field. The results of her study found that the resulting chemical was only 15% effective in achieving the desired result. When she went to publish the finding in the literature, her professor told her to change the result to 30% effective. Professors want funding, and a 15% result is unlikely to get funding for more research. My friend balked at this. Her prof told her if she would not change the numbers, she would require my friend to spend years repeating the experiments to re-prove the 15% number. My friend, who would not sacrifice her integrity to gain a PhD, refused and walked away without a PhD after 5 years of work.
- Many Lying Scientists
More than 10,000 scientific articles are retracted each year. [1] (https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-03974-8), [2] (https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Annual-Count-of-Retracted-Articles-and-Retraction-Notices-Between-2000-and-2025_fig1_398026352)
The majority of these are for dishonest conduct.
- To get a job or tenure
Because the great majority of schools teach evolution, if you want to get hired as a prof at a university, you may not get the job if you don't support evolution.
Men tell or repeat falsehoods both intentionally and unintentionally. Students are taught false things by authority figures and believe and repeat them. We often believe something not because we have studied it ourselves, but because people around us believe it. It is the easy path. Less effort. It avoids the stress of searching for and contending for the truth. It leaves more time for video games.
Based on incomplete information we may assume something is true, make a wrong conclusion, and believe a lie. Have you ever made a wrong conclusion about someone's motives and later found out you were wrong? I have. It can harm people. Evolution harms people. It robs them of their true identity - created by God for an eternal purpose. To live in a love relationship with Him and His people in the Kingdom of God. Let's not believe the lie.

Scientists' deceptions get published in textbooks and journal articles.
Deceptions come from:
- Relying on assumptions, instead of scientific rigor
- Flawed assumptions
- Sloppy conclusions
- An overwhelming desire to prove something even if it is not good judgment
- Ignoring contradictory data
- Fear of offending people, wanting to "fit in"
- Pursuing money, research grants
- A lack of critical thinking
- Laziness
The path of least effort is often to accept a claim, rather than doing the work of searching out the truth.
We tend to think of science, especially textbooks, as objective truth. However evolution is not observable science. It is based on conclusions that ignore facts that make creating new complex information (not small adaptions) impossible. (e.g. The facts of the math and chemistry required for DNA information and molecule creation.)
